Common investment management roles at Principal

PMA analyst

Provide financial and operational support to portfolio management, research, and trading teams to aid in the management of portfolios. Monitor daily market developments and portfolio compliance, conduct research and analysis, run and analyze statistical reports, and execute special projects.

Analyst

Analyze the impact economic and industry trends have on specific investments. Perform financial analysis and make projections to support your investment recommendations. Maintain research coverage of existing investments within the assigned sector coverage.

Portfolio manager

Lead, direct, develop, and implement investment strategies to achieve client stated goals and objectives. Co-manage, construct, and monitor firm’s asset strategy and functions using research and quantitative analysis to arrive at timely and sound investment decisions. Also lead product development efforts and hold responsibility for investment risk management across investment strategies.

Investment operations

Handle transactions as well as conduct special analyses and/or studies regarding trading, settlement, and/or the trade reporting process. Primarily work with members of the operations staff, legal, relationship management, IT, brokers, custodians, portfolio manager, and traders to handle routine and intermediate transactions as well as resolve issues.
